Mebeli Sofia is a furniture company in Sofia with its own workshop and more than 8 years of experience. We design, make and install custom kitchens, wardrobes and all kinds of fitted furniture ourselves – to the exact measurements of your home, not from a catalogue. We don’t resell other people’s furniture and we don’t hand work to subcontractors.

We specialise in larger projects: custom kitchens and furnishing whole apartments, especially in new builds. When the kitchen, wardrobes, hallway and living room are designed together, the home looks finished – and you deal with one person from the first measurement to the last screw.

Everything we make is made to order and to the exact dimensions of your home:

• Custom kitchens – straight, L-shaped, U-shaped and with an island, from €1,000 per linear metre.
• L-shaped kitchens – the most common choice in Sofia apartments, using the corner and giving a convenient work triangle.
• Apartment furnishing – the whole apartment as one project, especially for new builds.

Ready-made furniture comes in standard sizes, and Sofia homes are rarely standard: niches, columns, pipes, sloping ceilings, uneven walls. The result is gaps, furniture that doesn’t reach the ceiling and corners nobody uses.

Custom furniture starts from your home:

• It fits to the centimetre – wall to wall and floor to ceiling.
• It is organised around you – more drawers or more shelves, room for exactly the things you own.
• It looks like part of the home – the same materials and colours in every room.

Ready-made pieces make sense when the room is completely standard and only the price matters. In every other case custom furniture is better value, because it lasts longer and uses every centimetre.

1. Enquiry. Call us, message us on Viber or send an enquiry from our contact page. You can send photos, measurements or the floor plan right away.
2. Free measuring within 24 hours. We come to your address anywhere in Sofia and measure on site – we never work from a drawing alone.
3. 3D design and quote. You see the furniture in 3D – layout, materials, colours, handles, lighting. Changes at this stage are free. The quote is itemised, with no hidden costs.
4. Contract and manufacture. Price and timeframe go into the contract. We make everything in our own workshop – usually in 2–4 weeks.
5. Delivery and installation. We deliver, carry everything up and install it – included in the price. We adjust the doors and drawers and leave everything ready to use.

Payment is in two parts – before manufacture starts and after installation is finished; the amounts are set out in writing in the quote.

Our custom kitchens start from €1,000 per linear metre. A linear metre is the length of the kitchen along the wall, including base and wall units. For example, a 3 m straight kitchen starts from around €3,000, and an L-shaped 2.4 m + 1.8 m kitchen from around €4,200. The final price depends on the fronts and worktop, the hardware, tall appliance units and an island if there is one.

Wardrobes and other furniture are priced per project – size, type of doors, materials and interior fittings. A single cabinet and a fully furnished apartment are completely different projects, so there is no such thing as an “average price”.

Delivery, carrying up and installation in Sofia are included. Appliances, the sink and tap are usually chosen separately, but on request we can supply appliances from leading brands and take care of the kitchen plumbing and electrics. All of this is set out in the quote after the free measuring visit.

Furniture with a 2-year guarantee is common on the market. We give a 10-year guarantee on workmanship under normal use and a lifetime guarantee on Blum hardware – hinges, drawer runners and mechanisms.

If you have bought an apartment in a new development in Sofia, the best time to contact us is at the start of the renovation – before the electrical and plumbing points are fixed. That way the kitchen and built-in furniture are designed first, and sockets, pipes and lighting are put exactly where they will be needed.

We can make an initial design from the developer’s floor plan. For production, however, we always measure on site once the walls are plastered and the floors or tiles are laid: real dimensions almost always differ from the drawing by a few centimetres.

When you compare companies that make custom furniture, check:

• Do they have their own workshop, or do they resell someone else’s work?
• What guarantee do they give – and is it written into the contract?
• What hardware do they use – brand and guarantee?
• Is there a 3D design before production?
• Are delivery and installation included?
• What are their Google reviews like – with names and real projects?
• Can you communicate with them comfortably in a language you understand?

Compare quotes line by line – materials, hardware, installation, guarantee – not just the total. Two quotes with the same price can be for very different furniture.

The kitchen is the most complex piece of furniture in a home and the biggest single cost when furnishing it, which is why it is our main specialism. We design every kitchen from scratch, around the room and the way you cook:

• Straight kitchen – for narrow rooms, studios and kitchens in the living room.
• L-shaped kitchen – the most common choice in apartments, with more worktop and a convenient work triangle.
• U-shaped kitchen – for wider rooms, with maximum storage.

Much of Sofia’s housing is two- and three-room apartments in panel blocks, with a small kitchen, a narrow corridor and bedrooms where it is hard to fit a wardrobe. This is exactly where custom furniture gains the most:

• Cabinets and wardrobes up to the ceiling – a whole extra row for things you rarely use.
• Sliding mirrored doors – they take up no space and make the room look bigger.
• Kitchens built around pipes and shafts – no filler panels and no lost centimetres.
• Narrow modules – for spices, trays and boards where catalogue units won’t fit.

The most expensive mistakes with custom furniture only show up during installation: a door that hits the fridge, corner drawers that can’t open at the same time, a wardrobe that covers a socket. So before anything is made we prepare a 3D design in which:

• you see the furniture in the real room – using the exact measurements taken on site;
• you choose and change materials, colours and handles until you are happy;
• we check how doors, drawers and appliances open;
• we decide where the lighting and sockets go.

The 3D design is free and comes with no obligation, and changes at this stage cost nothing.

A fitted wardrobe uses the whole wall or niche – from floor to ceiling and wall to wall. Doors are sliding or hinged, depending on how much space there is in front. Inside we organise it around your clothes: areas for long and short garments, shelves, drawers, a pull-down rail for the upper section, and space for shoes and suitcases.

We also make walk-in closets – in a separate room or in part of a bedroom. Fronts can be mirrored, glass or in the same style as the rest of the furniture in the apartment. You see all the door and interior options in the 3D design before production, so you can compare and decide calmly.

For the living room we make TV walls and units with hidden cabling, bookcases, display cabinets and storage. When the kitchen is open to the living room, we design both together – with the same fronts, so they read as one space.

For kids’ rooms we make beds with storage, made-to-measure desks, shelving and wardrobes with adjustable shelves that can be rearranged as the child grows – leaving room to play. All room-by-room solutions are on our custom furniture for every room page.

If you are furnishing an apartment to let, the priorities are different from your own home:

One of the most common complaints about custom furniture is that the client talks to one person about the design, another about manufacture and a third about installation – and in the end nobody is responsible for the result. With us it is different: you have one person in charge who is with you from the first conversation and measuring visit, through the 3D design and manufacture, to installation and adjustments afterwards.
